The initial design concept proposed threeblocks that were separated by accessstairways and green courtyards. Themassing stepped ‘4-3-2’ storeys in height. This was revised following informal officer advice.

The design was revised to three equal ‘villa’blocks, each of three storeys. The space between the ‘Villas’ form their entrances, stairways and green courtyards.

The layout created a pedestrian scale rhythm along the lane-way, marking residents’ entrances to their homes with timber slatted screens giving a sense of transparency at the stairways through to the green courtyards.
